Crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo are full of innovation, but they also have plenty of gadgets we can live without and even some scammers. This is why we have taken on the quest to find some of the best crowdfunding projects around and bring them to your attention.

Today we are taking a look at the Solos Smart Cycling Glasses. These are not only good-looking sun glasses, they also feature a small heads-up display much like what we have seen coming from Google Glass. But as its name entails, this pair of smart glasses is meant for cyclists, and it seems to do very well at what it should do. In fact, they are sponsoring the USA Olympic cycling team and they seem to love it!

The micro-display can showcase a variety of information regarding your ride and performance. This includes speed, cadence, heart-rate, power zones, calories burned, distance and elevation. In addition, you can do more functional things like take calls, navigate, use voice prompts and more.

What really strikes us is that these glasses don’t look half bad. They are aesthetically pleasing, unlike most other similar competitors. They are also full-featured, sporting an aerodynamic design, dual microphones, quality lenses (interchangeable) and a 6-hour battery life that shouldn’t leave you stranded.

But these glasses don’t work on their own. Aside from being able to sync with TrainingPeaks, Strava and MapMyRide, the Solos team has put together its very own application for both Android and iOS. It tracks your workouts, history, keeps a profile together, measures your heart rate and more. This way, Solos manages to keep its product both social and effective. You can even do things like race against your previous rides to try and push yourself further.

These seem like a great addition to your riding gear. I mean, if the Olympic team believes they are worth your time, they must be… right? Either way, you are probably already suspecting these won’t come very cheap. All early specials are gone, but you can still sign up for Solo Smart Cycling Glasses for as low as $374. The funding goal has been more than doubled and shipping is expected to begin this October.
