Blackberry DTEK50 -24

BlackBerry’s latest smartphones are finally heading to India this week, although the mid-range DTEK50 and high-end DTEK60 are priced a fair bit higher than when they were launched in the US earlier this year. The DTEK50 will be available to purchase in India this coming weekend with a Rs. 21,990 ($330) price tag. Consumers will have to wait a little longer for the DTEK60, which will go on sale in early December for Rs. 46,990 ($700).

The DTEK50 was originally unveiled back in July and comes equipped with a 5.2-inch FullHD display, 1.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 617 SoC, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage accompanied by a microSD card slot. The phone also features a 13 megapixel rear camera, 8 megapixel front facing camera, and a 2,610mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0.

BlackBerry’s DTEK60 is the company’s flagship this year. It boasts a larger 5.5-inch QHD display, a 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. There’s a 21 megapixel rear camera, the same 8 megapixel front facing camera, and a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

BlackBerry’s high price point in India is unlikely to make either of the handsets particularly competitive with other phones based on hardware alone. However, the company’s top notch security features and software may just win a few consumers over. BlackBerry is bigging up its Enterprise Mobility Management solutions to try and win over the business crowd too.
