Samsung “Project F” phones may have flexible display, metal chassis

ETNews out of South Korea is reporting that Samsung will begin producing a premium lineup of smartphones, starting next year. The devices, which currently assume the codename “Project F”, will be coming to retail in March of 2014, according to Japanese blog rbmen.

Verizon CEO discusses unlimited data, device upgrades at investor conference

At an investor conference on Tuesday, Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam had some interesting thoughts on unlimited data. McAdam said “With unlimited, it's the physics that breaks it. If you allow unlimited usage, you just run out of gas."

Blackberry agrees to sell for $4.7 billion, but a deal is far from done

Taking a page from Dell, Blackberry has signed a letter of intent with Fairfax Financial for a $4.7 billion buyout. The deal would pay each shareholder $9/share in cash, and could end up bringing Blackberry under the auspice of privatization.

According to Blackberry, the issue was with a leaked BBM for Android APK. They note that -- in a mere eight hours -- their servers had 1.1 million unique Android users, causing issues for them.

Blackberry released their preliminary financial results for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2014, and it’s worse than imagined. While nobody believed BB10 would fully resurrect the once mighty smartphone company, nobody expected operating losses approaching $1 billion, either.

For those of you interested in the Cyanogen/Oppo partnership, we have an interesting wrinkle to the tale. From Nicolas Sincere at GadgtSpot we learn that Cyanogen still has some work to do, but it looks like we’ll be able to dual boot the device and choose either the Oppo UI or Cyanogen.
