Nexus 9 press

Delays. If there’s one thing I’ve learned covering Android and tech in general, it’s that delays on highly anticipated devices often happen. Sometimes they happen for good reasons, such as tightening up a few loose edges or making beneficial hardware changes. At other times, the reason can remain unknown or is simply due to stock issues or an unorganized launch **cough cough Nexus 4** .

For whatever the reason, would be Nexus 9 owners will need to be patient for a bit longer, as Amazon UK has apparently pushed the shipping date for the device to at least mid December.

Some UK customers that placed orders for the Nexus 9 recently received a message from Amazon UK informing them of the news, and when they reached out to Amazon to find out the reason behind the delay, they were told it was “based on the manufacturer’s decision, and the date mentioned by the manufacturer and supplied by the supplier.” While that doesn’t provide a black and white reason for the delay, some information is certainly better than none.

While this will certainly come as disappointing news to many, there is another option that could get the device in your hands quicker if you don’t feel like waiting. As of right now, it has only been confirmed that this delay applies to Amazon UK orders, meaning that Google Play is still scheduled to ship the Nexus tablet on November 3rd. So if waiting isn’t your cup of tea, you could always head over to Google Play and make your order there.

For those that haven’t heard about this highly anticipated device, you’re looking at a Nexus device being made by HTC with a 8.9 inch screen, 1536 x 2048 resolution, 2GB of RAM,  an NVIDIA Tegra K1 dual core processor, an 8MP front facing camera, and the brand spanking new Android 5.0. For $399 you can get your hands on the 16GB wifi edition, $479 will get you the 32GB wifi edition, and $599 can land you the 32GB LTE version of the tablet.

Again, the delay so far only applies to Amazon UK orders, and so far we have had no reports of Google Play orders or other retailers being affected. However, according to Paul O’Brien of Modaco, the delay may not be limited to Amazon UK:

There’s no official word from Google or HTCon the UK availability of the Nexus 9, but we’ll keep an eye out for any developments. Keep it locked to Android Authority for updates and additional Nexus 9 news!
