TL;DR
  • The Zolo Model Zero is a smart speaker with Google Assistant on board
  • Its gorgeous design makes it stand out from the crowd
  • The device will be available this fall

At CES in Las Vegas, Anker has announced a smart speaker under its Zolo brand. Called the Model Zero, it impresses with its stunning design.

The device is immediately more stylish than the likes of the Google Home and Amazon Echo, even if it reminds me of a fancy kettlebell. Not only does the Zolo Model Zero have good looks, though, it’s also smart. It has Google’s Assistant on board that can play music you like, answer various questions, tell you what the weather is like, and much more based on your voice commands. The device also has Chromecast built-in, allowing you to stream music from your mobile device.

There’s no word on battery life or how much the smart speaker will cost — but it likely won’t be cheap. We should hear more closer to launch, which is expected to happen sometime this fall. You’ll be able to get the device in black/silver, black/bronze, and white/gold.

Google Assistant has been the star of CES so far. In addition to smart speakers, it’s also powering a new product category called smart displays. We’ve already seen three of them announced by Lenovo, LG, and JBL, with more to come in the near future.
