TL;DR
  • An image posted on Chinese social media confirms the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S will launch in Shanghai on March 27.
  • This confirms earlier rumors we reported on back at the end of February.
  • The Mi Mix 2S is likely to be an incremental upgrade to the Mi Mix 2, but will likely feature some incredible benchmark scores.

The rumor mill has been churning hard for the follow-up to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. Now, a new post on Weibo, one of the most popular social media sites in China (like a Chinese Twitter), confirms that the Mi Mix 2S will launch on March 27 in Shanghai.

We learned at the end of February that the Mi Mix 2S would launch with the Snapdragon 845 and have an incredibly powerful AnTuTu benchmark score of 273,741. If that benchmark score is what the consumer version gets, it will put the Mi Mix 2S head-and-shoulders above the current top-scoring phone on AnTuTu’s list, the HONOR V10, which comes in at 213,381.

Since this is an updated model (hence the “S” in the phone’s moniker), we shouldn’t expect too much of a design variation from the Mi Mix 2. That phone has a 5.99-inch display with an 18:9 ratio and a resolution of 2,160 x 1,080. It also has 6 GB of RAM, storage options of 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB, and battery sizes of either 3,300 or 3,400 mAh. While it’s possible some of those specs could be beefed up with the Mi Mix 2S, it’s probably safe to assume they will be relatively similar.

We’re still at a loss for pricing or availability, but we can assume that China will be the first country to see the phone, considering the image above is in Chinese, the phone is launching in China, and Xiaomi is a Chinese company. But the Mi Mix 2 eventually made its way to other countries, so hopefully, this follow-up will do the same.
