TL;DR
  • The Xiaomi 12X has apparently been detailed by a leaker.
  • It’s expected to have a few features in common with the POCO F3.
  • It also seems like the phone might be smaller than typical Xiaomi flagships.

The Xiaomi 12 series is tipped to arrive next month, which would be in line with the Mi 11‘s initial launch window. Now, a regular leaker has revealed the existence of the Xiaomi 12X, and it might have a more compact design.

Frequent tipster Kacper Skrzypek spotted the Xiaomi 12X name in an IMEI database listing, while also noting that it has the codename “psyche.” Check out a screenshot of the listing below.

This filing also gives us the model number 2112123AG, with the last letter in Xiaomi model numbers a reference to the device’s target region. In this case, “G” means “global” and usually applies to the likes of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In fact, the tipster specifically says the Xiaomi 12X isn’t coming to India.

Skrzypek also posted apparent specs, claiming it will be equipped with the Snapdragon 870 processor, a 120Hz OLED screen (FHD+), and a 50MP main rear camera. This sounds similar to the Xiaomi 11X (also known as the POCO F3 and Redmi K40), which is equipped with a Snapdragon 870, 120Hz FHD+ OLED panel, and 48MP rear shooter. Here’s hoping the 50MP camera is flagship-level rather than a budget-tier sensor.

However, the Xiaomi 12X dimensions might be the most interesting thing about it. The device’s screen is said to measure 145.4 x 65.4 mm. So hopefully the bezels don’t add too much to the overall dimensions, as we could be looking at a smaller device than typical Xiaomi flagships.

Of course, price is the other unknown at this point. The use of the Snapdragon 870 suggests we could be in for pricing below the usual Xiaomi flagship levels. For example, the POCO F3 launched at €349. But we’d expect a significantly higher price if the phone packs proper high-end cameras, much faster charging, and a big battery.
