Xiaomi 12T series leaks in full: Another 200MP phone is coming
- Xiaomi’s 12T series has leaked online via a German outlet.
- The 12T Pro is tipped to arrive with a 200MP main camera.
Xiaomi is no stranger to T-series releases, having released the 11T range last year and the Mi 10T family in 2020. We’ve heard murmurings online regarding the Xiaomi 12T series, but a reliable outlet has now dished out everything you should know.
German website WinFuture posted a blowout of Xiaomi 12T series renders and specs, showing off the Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro. Both phones will reportedly gain plastic frames in lieu of metal, as well as similar rear camera designs. In fact, the megapixel branding on the camera housing is one of the few differences between the two devices.
The two phones also apparently share a number of other features, such as a flat 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED screen (2,712 x 1,220), 20MP selfie camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and 120W wired charging. Xiaomi will also purportedly include a 120W charger in the box, although it’s unclear if this only applies to the Pro model or if it applies to the standard 12T as well.
Xiaomi 12T Pro: What makes it Pro?
The Pro model, as the name implies, is the more premium offering here. Expect a high-end Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, which should chew through pretty much any task you throw at it. The Xiaomi 12T Pro is also said to get 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, although it’s claimed that versions with 8GB of RAM will be available in some markets.
Otherwise, the phone is also equipped with a 200MP main camera (f/1.69). This wouldn’t be the first 200MP phone on the market, as Motorola’s Edge 30 Ultra has already beaten Xiaomi to the punch. WinFuture notes that there’s no word on whether the Xiaomi phone has optical image stabilization (OIS) on board.
Xiaomi’s phone also packs an 8MP ultrawide rear camera and a 2MP macro sensor. So those hoping for a truly premium-level photography experience might be disappointed. Speaking of “premium,” the outlet’s sources mooted an €849 (~$846) price tag.
Standard Xiaomi 12T: The one to get?
The vanilla 12T also looks like a decent device, but it differs in two key categories. For one, the phone will apparently be powered by an upper mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 8100 series processor. This chipset isn’t on the level of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 family, but you can still expect flagship-level performance nonetheless.
Another key difference between the vanilla model and Xiaomi 12T Pro is that the vanilla device sticks with a 108MP main camera (f/1.65). The 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro camera are slated to feature here as well.
The 12T will purportedly sell for €649 (~$646) and is tipped to be available with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage.
