TL;DR
  • Xiaomi has confirmed a new fast-charging smartphone will debut in India early next year.
  • The Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge packs 120W charging support.
  • Expect the official device reveal on January 6.

Xiaomi is well known for loading its flagship smartphones with high-speed charging, but it’s poised to introduce the technology early next year to a new Indian mid-ranger. Xiaomi India’s MD Manu Kumar Jain confirmed in a tweet that the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge would debut in the country on January 6.

The Xiaomi 11i’s most attractive feature is its 120W charging support which can top up its battery in 15 minutes. Notably, that’s the same claim Xiaomi makes with the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus, suggesting that the 11i HyperCharge could be a rebrand. If that is the case, we could also expect a 4,500mAh battery (split into two 2,250mAh cells), a Dimensity 920 SoC, a triple rear camera, and a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED panel.

Xiaomi’s teaser also showcased a partial render of the phone, revealing a center camera punch hole, a long, slender volume button, and at least four colorways, including pink, green, blue, and black.

So what can we expect in terms of price? The Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus landed in China for 1,999 yuan (~$312) earlier this year, so expect a sub-Rs 25,000 price in India for the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge if it is indeed a rebrand.
