British smartphone manufacturer Wileyfox is offering customers a way to get its devices even cheaper than normal. You can now pick up an “Add-X” phone with advertisements on the lock screen in exchange for a substantial discount.

Amazon Prime Exclusive phones: how much can you save?
Features
This might sound familiar to you— Amazon already does something similar, but the difference is the discount you receive. Amazon generally discounts its Prime Exclusive phones by about $70. That can range anywhere from a 20% to 35% discount depending on the original price of the phone. Wileyfox is discounting its phones anywhere from 35% to 45% to serve you ads.

Much like the devices that Amazon sells, Wileyfox’s devices are the exact same hardware, just with ads included. If you end up getting sick of the ads and want to get rid of them, you can pay £40 to remove them at any time. Once payment is received, the company will push a software update out within 48 hours to remove the ads.

As you use the phone, you’ll notice that the advertisements become more tailored to you. The company uses information like your gender and age to select ads. They show up as cards with an option to dismiss or open them for more information. The advertising platform takes all of this information and uses it to show ads it thinks will interest you the most.

Wileyfox has already partnered with companies like Domino’s and Starbucks on the advertisements with more companies coming soon. If you’re interested in picking up one of the devices, hit the button below.

What do you think of ad-supported devices? Would you be willing to deal with ads to get a better deal on a phone? If so, how much would the phone have to be discounted? Let us know down in the comments.
