  • WhatsApp users on Android can try out a beta version of companion mode.
  • The mode will enable users to link up to four Android phones to their primary account.
  • The beta also allows users to link an Android tablet.

WhatsApp’s companion mode has begun rolling out to mobile Android phones in the form of a beta. The feature will enable Android users to connect multiple phones and/or an Android tablet to their primary accounts.

In its latest beta — version — WhatsApp is bringing companion mode to Android phones, according to WABetaInfo. This feature will allow users to link their primary account with up to four Android phones. Every device connected via companion mode will receive access to all the regular WhatsApp features and message encryption.

In addition to bringing support for Android mobile devices, the beta will also bring support for Android tablets. However, you’ll only be able to link one tablet, as opposed to the multiple phone support.

At the moment, companion mode seems to only be available for some of the beta testers that have installed the latest update from the Play Store. However, it’s expected that the feature will come to more users in the coming weeks. If you’re one of the lucky few who has access to companion mode, you’ll be able to find it in the settings menu, under the devices section.

But before you can take advantage of companion mode, users have to activate it first. This is done by going to the options menu on the registration screen and selecting “Link a device” from the dropdown menu.

Just earlier this month, WhatsApp also began rolling out its communities feature. Communities is expected to be available to everyone in the next few months.
