The Honor View10 is now available for pre-order for $499 and it’s got some impressive features. The phone has specs you would probably expect to see in a flagship phone, but for hundreds of dollars less. Let’s take a look at the major features of the View10.

The Kirin 970 processor with built-in NPU AI chip

Inside the Honor View10 is Huawei’s in-house processor, the Kirin 970. It’s a powerhouse with 8 CPU cores and 12 GPU cores — plenty for owners looking for high performance and great gaming on their phone (more about gaming later). The Kirin 970 also has another chip in it, the Neural Processing Unit (NPU).

The Honor View10 is one of the best smartphones you can buy. At $499 it is much cheaper than other phones with many of the same features.

The NPU is an AI processor designed to “learn” and improve over time. The Honor View10’s camera uses it to automatically find the right scene mode when you take a picture. The NPU also optimizes the phone’s memory handling based on your usage habits. Bottom-line, it makes the Kirin 970 faster and smarter than the average phone processor.

5.99-inch FullView Display

In high-end smartphones, bigger is usually better, especially for displays. The Honor View10 impresses in this area. It has a 5.99-inch 403 ppi screen, with a 1,080 x 2,160 resolution. It also has an 18:9 aspect ratio, which more and more videos and games are using starting to use.

The View10 also has a 78 percent screen-to-body ratio, much higher than many smartphones in its price range. All of these features make this one of the best phones for video and gaming.

Dual-lens rear camera with 2-in-1 PDAF Technology

The Honor View10 has two camera sensors in the rear which are capable of taking truly stunning images. The main sensor is a 16 MP f/1.8 aperture shooter. The secondary one is a 20 MP f/1.8 monochrome sensor. The monochrome sensor can add more detail to images when used with the main color camera, or it can be used on its own for impressive looking black and white shots. As we mentioned before, the cameras use the View10’s NPU to automatically adjust the settings to get the best looking photo without having to scroll through a ton of different menus.

The dual camera setup also uses 2-in-1 phase detection auto focus (PDAF) technology, which focuses on your image’s subject faster than normal auto focus technology. This once again allows you to take the best image without having to worry about seeing blurry photos.

Large battery capacity and faster charging speed

All of these features are obviously great, but if your phone only lasts for a few hours before it needs recharging, it’s going to be pretty useless on the road. The Honor View10 doesn’t have that problem. When its large 3,750 mAh battery is fully charged, it should last for an entire day of standard use before needing to charge. It can give you up to five and a half hours of gaming, up to 19 hours of video playback, or up to 21 hours of web browsing on 4G networks.

The View10 can also charge up quickly with its Super Charge technology. The USB Type-C charger, combined with its battery, can get the View10 up to 50 percent capacity in just 30 minutes, which is extremely helpful when you are on the road.

Game Suite offers uninterrupted gaming experience

The Honor View10 includes its own Game Suite with a host of gamer-oriented features. Uninterrupted Gaming keeps any unimportant messages or calls from showing up on the screen when activated, so you can keep shooting zombies, racing cars, or solving puzzles.

The View10 also has a dedicated game mode, which makes sure the processor gives you the best graphical and chip performance you can get. You can also switch to a normal mode on the phone, with a balance of power and performance, and a power saving mode, which cuts down on the phone’s performance to even more battery life.

The View10’s Game Suite also includes network acceleration, which works in the background so that you can get the best multiplayer network performance while gaming, no matter the signal strength.
