Update 4/11/2018 at 12:05 P.M. EST: Sony will sell the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact in the United States starting this month. Best Buy will get exclusive pre-order rights at the beginning, then a physical release will come in May, and then other retailers like Amazon will sell online. Here’s what the schedule looks like:

  • April 13 through April 19: Best Buy pre-orders open online.
  • April 20: Pre-orders close, actual orders begin at BestBuy.com.
  • May 6: The devices will be available at physical Best Buy stores.
  • May 20: Amazon and other retailers will begin to sell the devices.

In brief, if you want to get a hold of either device in the XZ2 line before May, Best Buy is your only choice. If you don’t want to purchase through Best Buy, you’ll have to wait until the end of May to get yours. Or, of course, you can pay more than MSRP on eBay.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 will sell for $799.99 and the XZ2 Compact will sell for $649.99. You can read more about specs and design in the original article below.

Original article: A new generation of flagship Sony handsets arrived at MWC in February, and in this post, we have all the details on the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact release date, price, and availability.

The Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact are typical Sony fare: sleek, if somewhat dated design, great specs, and a slew of multimedia and imaging features. The devices feature an “all-new” design language called Ambient Flow, the trendy 18:9 format, front-facing stereo speakers, and a new vibration system that is supposed to work in unison with the speakers to let you “feel what you hear.” The camera has been upgraded, now allowing you to shoot 960 fps slow-mo in 1080p.

On paper, these look like great phones, but we’re yet to officially put them through their paces. For now, you can read our hands-on Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact review at the link, and head below for the release info.
