Taneli Armanto, the creator of the classic Snake game, is working on a brand new version of the game, set to come to Android on May 14th of this year. The game is called Snake Rewind, and it’s built in partnership with game studio Rumilus Design.

Much like the original game you used to play on your Nokia feature phone, the premise is still the same with Snake Rewind – grow the snake as long as you can and try to avoid hitting any walls. But in case you do end up crashing, Snake Rewind will let you rewind your snake so you can continue with your game. The new game features ten different levels, each with distinct visuals and music, as well as many different types of special fruit, each with unique powers and effects.

Here are a few other features the new game will bring to the table:

  • Fruit Store where boosters and items can be upgraded and purchased, using fruit that you collect while playing!
  • Compete against other players for higher scores and rankings on the leaderboards, connect with friends on Facebook!
  • Fill the whole screen with the snake and find out what happens then!

Snake Rewind will be available this month on Android for free, though there will be a few in-app purchases available inside the game.
