SmallRig brings modular mounting to portable power with its new Nano Power Bank series

Most consumer power banks are designed to sit in a pocket or a bag until you need to plug something in. That’s great if you only need to charge your phone, but these don’t work as well when you’re trying to run a camera, a wireless mic, and a monitor off the same battery during a long shoot. There’s rarely a clean way to attach the power bank itself, so you often end up improvising with cable ties, tape, or Velcro straps.

The Nano Power Bank series addresses this problem directly. The two models – the Nano 36 and the Nano 72 – in the lineup come with built-in 1/4″-20 threaded holes and dedicated V-mount plates, so they can be attached to camera cages, tripods, gimbals, and other accessories in SmallRig’s existing ecosystem. The power bank becomes part of the rig itself, giving you a tighter setup and making it easier to move between locations.

The SmallRig Nano 36 vs Nano 72

SmallRig splits the series into two capacities depending on how much power you’ll need.

The Nano 36 is the smaller sibling, featuring a 10,000mAh battery, 30W input, and 45W output, with multi-port output up to 24W. It’s perfect for lighter tasks like mobile livestreaming, travel content, and casual video recording – great when you need a quick boost rather than a full day’s power. It also includes one retractable USB-C cable and a combined USB-C/USB-A port, making your packing simpler and worry-free.

The Nano 72 has a 20,000mAh battery, 100W input, and 100W bi-directional output. This is the one to get for longer shoots and heavier gear loads, like extended events, wedding coverage, or multi-camera setups that require more reliable power. Its fast bi-directional charging lets the same unit quickly recharge between takes and power cameras or monitors just as fast, eliminating the need for multiple accessories.

Plus, it features the same integrated cable and mounting hardware as the Nano 36, making it easy to switch between models without any hassle.

How the mounting works

The mounting flexibility of this series is really its highlight, and you can use it in different ways depending on your shoot.

For livestreamers using a tripod or quick-release plate, the Nano series attaches easily to your hardware, keeping your setup neat and tidy compared to propping or taping everything down.
