Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra camera specs emerge and we aren't surprised

Just one upgrade to talk about.
November 3, 2022
  • Camera specs of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra have leaked, showing little has changed compared to the S22 Ultra.
  • The phone is expected to feature an identical imaging setup as its predecessor, except for the 200MP primary shooter.

Samsung almost never downgrades camera specs on its phones, and the S23 Ultra will be no different. That said, it’s common practice for the phone maker to keep some of the hardware unchanged on its flagships for at least a couple of years. So it’s no surprise that next year’s top-tier Galaxy S would borrow a few camera sensors from its predecessor.

According to leaker Yogesh Brar, The S23 Ultra’s well-rumored 200MP camera will be accompanied by a 10MP 10x periscope camera, a 10MP 3x telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide lens. Essentially, the phone gets an identical camera setup as the Galaxy S22 Ultra, albeit for the 200MP shooter.

200MP + 10MP (10X, Periscope Tele) + 10MP (3x Tele) + 12MP (UW)
On the S23 Ultra should be fun?

If you were expecting a huge upgrade, you may be disappointed. However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra was one of the best camera phones we tested this year. We could definitely do with one more year of that cool 10x camera that impressed many of us here at Android Authority. The 3x telephoto shooter also produced decent results during our review process, while the ultrawide sensor provided a pleasing added perspective.

All eyes will be on the 200MP sensor, though. It’s rumored to be the unreleased ISOCELL HP2 sensor which would apparently perform better than both the previously released HP1 and HP3 Samsung sensors. It remains to be seen if Samsung’s high-resolution camera can take on lower-resolution ones that offer bigger pixels.
