Ryan Reynolds starts new video streaming service with just one awful movie
- Mint Mobile Plus is a video streaming service that plays only one Ryan Reynolds movie.
- The movie is Foolproof from 2004, which is a badly-reviewed heist film.
- The service is a publicity stunt for Mint Mobile, an MVNO in which Reynolds bought a large stake.
If you feel overwhelmed by the number of video streaming services out there, we’ve got some bad news. A new video streaming service is here called Mint Mobile Plus. To make matters worse, the service only plays one Ryan Reynolds movie. That’s right: one movie.
Obviously, Mint Mobile Plus isn’t a serious contender in the video streaming wars. However, it is real: you can actually use the service’s web portal for free to watch Foolproof, a 2004 heist film. Keep in mind, though, that that’s all the service carries, and the movie is pretty awful.
One Ryan Reynolds movie is all you need
In case you didn’t pick up on it, Mint Mobile Plus is not intended to be a real product. Instead, it’s a cute publicity stunt intended to promote Mint Mobile. Reynolds owns a large stake in the wireless MVNO and often promotes it, usually utilizing some offbeat methods such as this.
In a follow-up tweet to Reynolds’ announcement of Mint Mobile Plus, he slyly suggests that it won’t last through the weekend. In other words, if you’re in the mood to watch a Ryan Reynolds movie — and that one movie happens to be 2004’s Foolproof for some reason — you’d better get on it quickly. By Monday, there’s likely to be one less streaming service for us to keep track of.
