TL;DR
  • Redmi has confirmed charging, battery, and chipset specs for the K50 series.
  • The device promises to pack better cooling and faster charging than its predecessor.
  • The lineup will make its debut in February 2022.

The Redmi K50 series was first teased in June 2021, but the brand has not confirmed many details since. Now, details of the device line are slowly slipping through as Redmi gears up for its debut.

Stemming from Redmi’s official Weibo account, the latest tease sheds light on the mid-range line’s power system, chipset details, and launch date.

Redmi K50 specs

So what can we expect on the power front? For starters, a larger battery and quicker charging are in the offing. The K50 series will feature a 4,700mAh battery with 120W charging support. That combo reportedly results in 17-minute charging spells.

It’s unclear if all K50 devices will feature this setup, but it’s worth noting that the Redmi K40 trio did share battery and charging specs. In comparison, the outgoing series took 50 minutes to charge their 4,520mAh cells through a 33W system.

In terms of processing power, Redmi talks up the “coldest Snapdragon 8” chilled by a vapor chamber heat-wicking system. Presumably, the chip in question will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Again, not every K50 variant could use this chipset, especially considering the base Redmi K40 employed the Snapdragon 870 instead of the swifter, pricier 888.

Finally, Redmi rubber-stamped a February 2022 launch date for the new series, giving the company plenty of time to spill more details.
