realme Narzo 30 series launched: Mid-range 5G power, big battery for under $250

Realme’s Narzo series stands out by offering capable silicon and big batteries, and this generally comes at a very affordable price. Now, the company has announced the Narzo 30 30 Pro and Narzo 30A, so what are you getting this time?

The Narzo 30 Pro is the standout device here, packing a mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 800U processor. This chipset delivers an octacore CPU (2x Cortex-A76 and 6x Cortex-A55), a Mali-G57 MC GPU, and 5G+5G dual SIM support. realme’s phone also has a 6.5-inch 120Hz FHD+ LCD screen, with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

5G and a high refresh rate both require plenty of juice, so we’re glad to see the new phone pack a 5,000mAh battery with 30W charging. The company says it takes a respectable 65 minutes to hit 100% capacity, which isn’t bad for a battery of this size.

Narzo phones aren’t on the cutting-edge when it comes to camera capabilities, but you’ll find a triple camera setup on the back of the Narzo 30 Pro. Expect to find a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide shooter (119 degree field of view), and a 2MP macro lens. Meanwhile, a 16MP camera in a punch-hole cutout pulls selfie duty.

The realme Narzo 30 Pro starts at Rs 16,999 (~$235) for the 6GB/64GB model, while the 8GB/128GB variant retails for Rs 19,999 (~$276). The device will be available in Sword Black and Blade Silver.

What else did realme announce?

realme also announced the Narzo 30A, and it’s a step or two below the Pro variant. The biggest selling point here is the battery though, packing a 6,000mAh battery for multi-day usage in theory. Unfortunately, it’s only packing 18W wired charging (via USB-C) though.

The new phone packs a MediaTek Helio G85 processor, featuring an octacore CPU (2x Cortex-A75 and 6x Cortex-A55) and Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. You’re also getting a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD screen, although this has a standard 60Hz refresh rate.

You’re also getting a dual rear camera, featuring a 13MP main shooter and a 2MP monochrome lens. An 8MP camera in a notch handles your selfies and video-calls. That selfie camera also enables face unlock, but you’ve got a rear fingerprint scanner too for more secure authentication.

Expect to pay Rs 8,999 (~$124) for the 3GB/32GB realme Narzo 30A, while the 4GB/64GB model retails for Rs 9,999 (~$138). It’s available in Laser Blue and Laser Black colorways.

The company also announced several gaming accessories, such as a clip-on cooling fan for Rs 1,799 (~$25), a Black Shark-style mobile game controller for Rs 999 (~$14), and finger sleeves for Rs 129 (~$2).

realme also launched the realme Buds Air 2 true wireless earbuds, packing active noise cancellation, up to 25 hours of playback with the case (or five hours otherwise), Bluetooth 5.2, and an IPX5 rating. Unfortunately, it only supports AAC and SBC audio codecs. Nevertheless, realme says you’ll be paying Rs 3,299 (~$46).
