realme sets launch date for 2021 Snapdragon 888 flagship
- realme has announced the launch date for its Snapdragon 888 flagship.
- The phone is named the realme GT 5G as opposed to the previously rumored realme Race moniker.
realme was one of the first few firms to announce its intentions to launch a Snapdragon 888 flagship. For the longest time, the phone was expected to be named realme Race. However, the company has now disclosed that it’ll launch the device as the realme GT 5G.
The phone will launch on March 4 in China and will most likely step outside the country soon after. realme previously confirmed that its flagship will boast a large 5,000mAh battery with 125W fast-charging and a 6.8-inch 160Hz display. There could also be another variant with a 120Hz screen.
Other leaked specs include an in-display fingerprint sensor, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, and Android 11 with realme UI 2.0 on top. For imaging, the phone is expected to sport a quad-camera setup with a 64MP main camera.
Images of a realme phone with model number RXM2202 recently appeared on Chinese regulatory website TENAA. The device features GT branding at the back and has a punch-hole on the top left corner of the screen. You can also see a large rectangular camera housing, but it’s hard to tell how many sensors are in there.
According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the phone will be available in plain leather and glass versions.
