TL;DR
  • realme has confirmed that the realme GT series is coming to India this quarter.
  • The company says “multiple” GT series products will be launched in the market.
  • realme also said it will launch 5G phones for under Rs 10,000 in 2022.

realme launched the realme GT flagship earlier this year, packing powerful core specs at a more affordable price than typical flagships. And it looks like Indian consumers don’t have to wait too long to get their hands on it.

The manufacturer confirmed at its India 5G Webinar that the realme GT series is indeed coming to India in “this quarter.” It also noted that “multiple products” are coming in the series. That means we can expect the previously announced realme GT as well as devices like the rumored realme GT Master Edition.

Realme’s GT flagship serves up a Snapdragon 888 chipset, a 4,500mAh battery with 65W charging, and a 120Hz OLED screen. The phone has a regular starting price of €449 (~$531) for the 8GB/128GB variant, so we’re guessing Indian pricing will be cheaper.

The firm also had some 5G-related news to share, saying it’ll launch 5G phones for under Rs 10,000 (~$134) in India. Unfortunately, realme India CEO Madhav Sheth told the webinar that it’s only aiming to launch these devices next year though, so don’t expect to get your hands on it anytime soon.

realme also noted that all of its upcoming phones priced at 15,000 rupees (~$201) or higher will now have 5G support. So those wanting a budget 5G phone should keep a lookout for these devices. Finally, the manufacturer announced that it’ll be investing $300 million in 5G-related research and development over two years.
