If you still own a Pebble smartwatch, we have some good news for you. Fitbit, which acquired Pebble in late 2016, has revealed that it will extend software and services support to the older Pebble devices until June 30, 2018. Previously, Fitbit stated that it would support Pebble software until the end of 2017.

After June 30, the Pebble smartwatches and mobile apps will continue to work, but support will end for features such as SMS and email replies, voice recognition, timeline pins from third-party apps, and the CloudPebble developer tool. The Pebble forum and app store will also shut down after June 30. There will also be no further updates for Pebble’s mobile apps for iOS and Android.

In its blog post today, Fitbit stated that part of the reason for the Pebble support extension is to help Pebble owners and developers transition to the new Fitbit OS, which made its debut with the Fitbit Ionic smartwatch in late 2017. To help even further with that transition, Pebble watch owners with a valid serial number can get a $50 discount off the Fitbit Ionic. You can register for that discount online at this website. If you bought a Pebble before Dec. 7, 2016 and also signed up to receive promotional emails from Fitbit, you should receive an email from the company soon on this discount as well.
