OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5 beta testers can now get their hands on OxygenOS Open Beta 4 and Open Beta 6, respectively. As well as a number of key tweaks and optimizations, both beta builds also upgrade the two devices to Android 8.1 Oreo.

OnePlus promised back in November that each of its phones from the OnePlus 3 onwards would eventually be updated to at least 8.1 Oreo. With the beta now live, it seems a stable public rollout is just around the corner for OnePlus’ 2017 flagships.

Open beta testers should have already received an OTA update, but if you’re still waiting you can find the relevant downloads here.

As with any non-final build, be aware that you might encounter a few bugs that (hopefully) won’t be present in the stable release.

On top of the bump to 8.1, both updates include February’s Android security patches, gaming mode tweaks, an auto pick up gesture, ambient display clock customizations, and improvements to the OnePlus Switch app which now supports app data migration.

The OnePlus 5T also receives optimizations for the iPhone X-style full-screen gestures which arrived in the last Open Beta.

You can see the full changelogs here and here on the official OnePlus forums. The reactions so far appear to be largely positive, with particular praise heaped on the improvements to gesture controls on the OnePlus 5T.
