OnePlus 2 already has over a million people waiting for an invite

The OnePlus 2's invite waiting list has already reached the 1 million mark, despite increasing competition.

Earlier this week OnePlus unveiled the successor to the OnePlus One, the aptly named OnePlus Two. Less than a day later, Motorola turned around and unveiled its own flagship at nearly as aggressive of a price point. With increasing competition, will the OnePlus 2 find the same level of success as the original? Obviously it’s way too early to answer that question, but so far things look pretty good.

According to OnePlus, the waiting list for invites has already passed the one million mark. Considering the OnePlus One sold roughly 1.5 million units during its entire life, that’s rather impressive. Of course, this is assuming that all the folks that requested invites will actually buy the phone once the invite is received. Nonetheless, the OnePlus 2 is off to a good start. What’s important now is that OnePlus works to avoid some of the issues that caused it hiccups with the OPO, including odd contests and mishandled PR incidents. It also needs to ensure that the invite process goes as smoothly as possible.

ZTE Axon vs OnePlus 2 vs Moto X Style: value for money, redefined

Starting at $329, the OnePlus 2 remains one of the cheapest flagship level phones on the market, even if devices like the ZTE Axon and Motorola Moto X Style are only marginally more expensive and offer a few advantages over the OP2. What do you think, plan on picking one up? If not, what upcoming device are you currently most excited about?

NEW YORK, July 30, 2015 – On the heels of launching the OnePlus 2 via the world’s first virtual reality keynote, the excitement around OnePlus has continued to build to a crescendo with over one million users now registered for an invite to purchase the device – all in less than 72 hours.

In comparison, the original OnePlus device has sold over 1.5ql million units to date, an extraordinary testament to the growth of the brand since its founding December 2013. Following the global success of last year’s OnePlus One, the launch of the OnePlus 2 reaffirms the brand’s commitment to the highest level of craftsmanship in the industry today. The OnePlus 2 boasts top of the line specs, one of the best cameras on the market, beautiful design and the adoption of state of the art technology. It’s clearly resonated with consumers as they’ve been quick to snap up a place in line for a reservation to purchase one for themselves.

OnePlus will be giving fans across the globe an opportunity to physically experience the OnePlus 2 at pop-up events in New York, San Francisco, London, Paris, Berlin, Milan, New Delhi, Bangalore, and Jakarta on July 31. Team members from OnePlus will be on hand to demo the OnePlus 2 to fans in person; those users will have an opportunity to receive invites and other exclusive gifts.

Additional information on both the new OnePlus 2 and the pop-up events is available on www.oneplus.net.
