Some lucky US consumers will soon get their hands on Nothing Phone 1

There's no word on a timeline just yet, but it'll presumably take place before the stable release in Q1.

TL;DR
  • Nothing will bring the Phone 1 to some consumers in the US as part of a testing program.
  • This limited release will be part of the Android 13 beta program.

Nothing confirmed earlier this month that it was in talks with US carriers about launching a smartphone in the country. Now, it turns out that some US consumers will get their hands on a Nothing handset sooner rather than later.

Company founder Carl Pei tweeted that Nothing will bring the Phone 1’s Android 13 beta program to the US, along with access to the Phone 1 for an unspecified number of people in the market. Check out the tweet below.

There’s no timeline for the testing program to hit the US, but the global beta program kicked off last week and the stable Android 13 release will arrive in Q1 2023. So you have to assume that selected US testers will get their hands on the Nothing Phone 1 between now and the stable rollout. There’s also no word on whether devices will be seeded, sold, or loaned out to users.

News of this US testing program comes after Nothing said they were in discussions with US networks about a future smartphone. Pei didn’t confirm whether this future product was the Nothing Phone 2, only saying that the Phone 2 wasn’t launching “anytime soon.”

Pei also called on interested parties to stay tuned, so keep an eye on his Twitter account, Nothing’s social media accounts, and the Nothing Community forum if you’re keen on testing the device.
