Original article, June 6, 2019 (09:40 AM ET): Looking for a super-cheap Android One smartphone? Well, HMD Global has just announced the Nokia 2.2, and it might be up your alley.

For 99 euros (~$112), you’re getting a phone with a quad-core MediaTek A22 chipset, 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of expandable storage, and a 5.71-inch HD+ LCD screen with waterdrop notch.

Other important stats include a 3,000mAh battery with five-watt charging via microUSB, a 13MP f/2.2 rear camera, a 5MP front-facing shooter with face unlock, and a 3.5mm port.

The big reason to get the Nokia 2.2 is Android One support, which means it will receive two years of OS upgrades and three years of security patches (it ships with Android Pie). Google’s influence doesn’t end there, as the Nokia 2.2 also ships with a Google Assistant button.

This might not be the best low-end smartphone on the market in terms of sheer specs, as the ~$104 Redmi 7 seems to offer better bang for your buck. Xiaomi’s device offers a higher-performing chipset, dual rear cameras, and a bigger battery. But the stock Android implementation and promise of updates certainly makes the Nokia 2.2 stand out.

The Nokia 2.2 will be available in Steel and Tungsten Black and it’s expected to be released June 11. You should be able to pre-order it from the official website today — check it out via the button below.
