7 upcoming Indian originals on Netflix you won't want to miss

Netflix keeps adding new TV shows and movies to its ever-growing library of Indian content. The streaming platform’s roster of upcoming Indian originals includes multiple new titles featuring prominent Bollywood actors. There are also some interesting documentaries on the horizon.
All of these titles are slated to hit the platform in 2023, but keep in mind that some may not be available globally. Here’s a list of all the exciting new Indian titles coming to Netflix, with a brief description of what they’re all about.

1. Class (Season 2)
The second installment of Class has been creating quite a buzz after season 1 closed with great reviews for highlighting the social issues affecting young people. There’s no word on the storyline for Class season 2, but expect to see more drama between the trio of working-class students and their wealthy batchmates at Hampton International School. Netflix says season 2 will be coming soon, suggesting we might see it this year itself.
2. Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga
This upcoming Indian original thriller on Netflix tells a twisted story of a heist gone horribly wrong. A flight attendant and her boyfriend must steal a cache of diamonds to clear an old debt — but the plan spins into mayhem when the plane is hijacked. The movie hits Netflix on March 24, 2023.
3. Heeramandi

Not much is known about this upcoming Indian original on Netflix except that it’s the work of renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Netflix’s description of the show tells us that the series will focus on stories of love and betrayal in the lives of courtesans in pre-independence India.
4. Khufiya
Khufiya is a spy thriller directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and is based on the popular espionage novel Escape to Nowhere by Amar Bhushan. It will release exclusively on Netflix, but there’s no set date out there just yet. The Indian original film stars Tabu, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Ashish Vidyarthi in pivotal roles.
5. Chakda ‘Xpress
Starring Anushka Sharma, this upcoming Netflix Indian original film is inspired by the journey of Jhulan Goswami as she moves up the ladder despite the problems created by misogynistic politics to fulfill her dream of playing cricket for India.
6. The Archies
The Archies is an Indian take on the super-famous comic book series of the same name. The film has been directed by Zoya Akhtar and will mark the debut of some Bollywood star kids including Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, and Suhana Khan.
7. Kathal
We’ve only seen a glimpse of Kathal, an upcoming Netflix movie with Sanya Malhotra in the lead. The streamer promises a story of crime, mystery, drama, suspense, and comedy centered around a politician’s missing prized jackfruit.
