TL;DR
  • A tipster says Motorola plans to launch two Razr phones in 2023.
  • We don’t know if both phones would be clamshells or if Motorola is planning to launch a Galaxy Z Fold-style device.

It’s been a minute since Motorola launched the 2022 Razr in China. The powerful phone still hasn’t made it to the global market, but word has it that it might be stepping out of the orient pretty soon. While Motorola may have lost this year’s foldable race to Samsung by simply limiting the availability of the new Razr, it looks like the company may have plans to double down on foldables next year.

According to Evan Blass, Motorola plans to launch two Razr phones next year. The tipster revealed that one of the two phones is codenamed Juno, while the other is called Venus. For reference, the current Razr 2022 was codenamed, Maven.

It’s unclear whether the alleged Razrs will be clamshells or if Motorola is finally ready to take on the Galaxy Z Fold with a more traditional foldable phone.

While Blass has a solid track record, it’s too early to speculate what Motorola has in store. The company could simply be testing these unannounced Razr models internally, or they could be two different Razrs — one for international markets and the other exclusive to China.

Whatever the case, it’ll be interesting to see the route Motorola takes. We recently found out that the company is also toying with the concept of a rollable phone. So it looks like the company is expanding its thinking about the smartphone form factor. Let’s hope good things are coming.
