TL;DR
  • Leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer shared renders of what could be the Moto G10 Play.
  • Tweaks include a new side-mounted fingerprint sensor and repositioned camera cutout.

It was only in August that Motorola released the Moto G9 Play, but it looks like the company may already be prepping a successor to the budget device. On Monday morning, frequent leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer shared renders of a new phone, the XT-2117, he believes Motorola will market as the Moto G10 Play. Understandably, it doesn’t look like a lot has changed between the two devices.

Like the Moto G9 Play, the XT-2117 features a 6.5-inch display with an ample amount of chin bezel. The new phone measures in at 165.3 x 75.4 x 9.2mm. While not an exact match for the G9 Play, the two share more or less the same footprint. We can see more substantial changes in the camera cutout, which Motorola has moved to the left side of the display. Another notable change is that it looks like the fingerprint sensor is now on the side of the device, as opposed to the back of it.

We know from the XT-2117’s TÜV Rheinland certification that the phone features a 4,850mAh battery. That means it has a slightly smaller battery than the Moto G9 Play, which comes with a 5,000mAh cell. Beyond that, we don’t know much else about the phone; Hemmerstoffer didn’t have many other details to share on the XT-2117. That said, he believes Motorola will announce the phone sometime in the next few weeks, so we’ll likely learn more soon.
