Motorola Edge 20, Edge 20 Fusion hit India: 108MP cameras, high refresh rate
The Motorola Edge 20 series launched globally last month, but we didn’t get any details regarding an Indian launch at the time. Fortunately, the series has finally come to India, although the top-end Edge 20 Pro didn’t make the cut. Instead, Indian consumers can choose between the Edge 20 and the Edge 20 Fusion.
The Edge 20 is an upper mid-range offering, featuring a 6.99mm thin design, a Snapdragon 778G chipset, a 144Hz FHD+ OLED screen (6.7-inches), and a 4,000mAh battery with 30W wired charging.
Motorola’s device also packs a pretty flexible rear camera system, featuring a 108MP main shooter, an 8MP 3X telephoto lens, and a 16MP ultra-wide camera (119-degree field of view). Other notable features include an under-display fingerprint sensor, a 32MP selfie camera in a center-mounted punch-hole cutout, IP52 rating, and Android 11.
Meanwhile, the Edge 20 Fusion is essentially the Edge 20 Lite with a chipset change. That means you’re getting the MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC instead of the Edge 20 Lite’s Dimensity 720 processor. The rest of the core specs include a 6.7-inch 90Hz OLED screen, a 5,000mAh battery, and 30W charging.
In terms of the camera experience, the Edge 20 Fusion brings a 108MP main shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide snapper (118-degree FoV), and a 2MP depth sensor. You’re also getting a 32MP snapper for selfies, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, IP52 rating, and Android 11.
Motorola Edge 20 series pricing for India
The Edge 20 has a retail price of Rs 29,999 (~$404) via Flipkart, netting you the 8GB/128GB model. You can get the phone in Frosted Emerald or Frosted Pearl colorways. The device goes on sale from August 24 at midday IST.
Meanwhile, the Edge 20 Fusion will retail for Rs 21,499 (~$289) via Flipkart for the 6GB/128GB variant. This device is available in Cyber Teal and Electric Graphite color options. The Edge 20 Fusion goes on sale from August 27 at midday IST.
Motorola is also promising an “assured upgrade” to Android 12 and 13 as well as two years of security patches. We’ll need to wait and see if this is indeed the case, but the company doesn’t have the best track record for updates to start with.
