TL;DR
  • Motorola expands the ecosystem around the Motorola Signature 27 with the Moto Watch 2 Fit and the Moto Buds 2 Ultra.
  • The Moto Watch 2 Fit has Polar-powered insights, while the Moto Buds 2 Ultra have Bose SoundDesign tuning and Bose QuietControl active noise cancellation.
  • The fitness tracker and earbuds will be available in the coming weeks.

Fresh off the launch of the premium Motorola Signature 27 phone, Motorola has introduced two new products that pair with it: the Moto Watch 2 Fit and the Moto Buds 2 Ultra. The Moto Watch 2 Fit adds Polar tracking to the Fit line, while the Moto Buds 2 Ultra have Bose SoundDesign tuning and Bose QuietControl active noise cancellation.

The Moto Watch 2 Fit shuns the screenless fitness tracker trend with a 1.85-inch OLED screen and Gorilla Glass 3 protection, surrounded by a 2mm bezel. The display is always-on enabled, and has 1,500 nits peak brightness and a 60Hz refresh rate. Motorola said the battery is rated for up to 12 days. As a fitness tracker, the ability to handle dirt, dust, and water is key, and the Moto Watch 2 Fit has IP68 protection and 5ATM water resistance, which Motorola says can sustain splashes, rain, everyday water exposures, and a “brief workout” in a pool.

The Moto Watch 2 Fit is outfitted with what you’d expect from a fitness tracker: step and distance counters, heart rate monitoring, vital signs tracking, SpO2 monitoring, stress insights, menstrual cycle tracking, and activity detection that tracks more than 100 workouts.

As for the Polar-powered insights, they include a brand-new Running Index to track aerobic efficiency and running progress week over week. A personalized Daily Activity Score and Daily Activity Goal give insights into activity and targets to reach. There’s also a breakdown of Active Intensity Zones, showing how much time is spent in various heart rate zones, alongside Energy Sources insights that provide metabolic insights about workouts.

There are also more wellness-inspired Polar-powered features, including ones for sleep, like a Serene mode for breathing exercises with biofeedback, Nightly Recharge for sleep quality measurement, and Sleep Plus Stages to analyze sleep stages. For waking hours, there’s an Inactivity Alert to encourage movement and a Smart Calories feature to calculate calories burned.

While it won’t be available at launch, Motorola said it’s working on an Ask Anything AI-powered feature for workout guidance that will respond to a “Hey Qira” request.

Aside from the fitness and wellness features, users can take calls on the Moto Watch 2 Fit.

The Moto Watch 2 Fit is coming to Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, North America, and Asia-Pacific in the coming weeks. In some markets, the Moto Watch 2 Fit will be called the Moto Watch Fit 27. It will be available in three Pantone colors: Stratified Sea, Pigeon, and Ballerina, and the price will start at €119 (~$133).
