Motorola Moto G4 Plus press

Yesterday’s introduction to this year’s mid-range multitude of Motorola mobiles has resulted in not one, not two, but three different Moto G4 variants to vie for your cash considerations. The Moto G4 Plus, the Moto G4, and the Moto G4 Play are coming soon to the United States, and Motorola has now updated its official website to help make the choice easier:

Pricing for the three products has not been set as of yet, however all are currently listed with a “Mid-Summer 2016” release window. Presumably this will be around July, especially if rumors of Motorola’s introducing the Moto X Moto Z series around said time pan out to maximize PR plans.

Perhaps the more interesting information to infer from this comparison chart are the color options related to the category of “backs”, as they serve to suggest the Moto Maker choices that customers will be faced with in addition to the amount of storage. Both the Moto G4 Plus and the Moto G4 seem to have the same shades to select, though it is unknown as to if any will be leather or other premium materials to perhaps make the Plus more of a premium purchase.

One other aspect to consider is the very idea Motorola is apparently intent on releasing the low-end mid-range Moto G4 Play in the USA. Last year, for example, the company passed on wide-spread American release of the Moto X Play and instead funneled it into the Verizon-only Droid Maxx 2. It made sense as the Moto X Play was ideally targeted at more price-conscious customers in many developing markets who still wanted relatively high specs, but might not have been willing to part with the cash needed to purchase a Moto X Style.

While nothing has been confirmed – especially in the absence of pricing details for the US – perhaps the Moto G4 Play will ultimately fill the void that would be left should Motorola discontinue its Moto E series of low-end budget-friendly phones.
