Motorola appears to have another Moto G Stylus on the way, bringing 5G and other improvements.

The Moto G Stylus is the company’s mid-range device, and one of the best budget options for customers wanting a Samsung Galaxy Note-like experience, combining a stylus with a phone large enough to double as a tablet. According to 91mobiles, the new model’s main upgrade over the 2022 4G model is 5G support, leading to it being dubbed the Moto G Stylus 5G (2022).

In addition to 5G support, the new model should boast improved performance, thanks to the Snapdragon 695 SOC likely powering it. In contrast, the 4G model is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88. The Snapdragon is also a 6nm design, instead of the Helio’s 12nm, which should help it be more energy efficient.

The screen is another point of improvement, reportedly sporting a 120Hz refresh rate. This is up from the 90Hz rate of the 4G model. The screen’s brightness typically maxes out at 450 nits, although it can boost up to 650 nits in a high-brightness mode.

Both models feature up to 128GB of storage, although the 5G model appears to start at 128, as opposed to the 4G model’s starting 64GB.

The cameras appear to be largely unchanged, with the main rear one likely coming in at the same 50MP as the 4G model. Similarly, both models only include 4GB of RAM. The battery is another feature that seems to be largely unchanged between the two devices, which is a good thing in this case, as the 4G model already included a massive 5,000mAh battery.

All-in-all, the Moto G Stylus 5G appears to have some nice quality-of-life improvements over its 4G predecessor. In our review of that model we concluded it offered “good hardware at a good price,” including some premium features in an otherwise budget phone. The 5G model appears to solidly build on that trend, although we’ll have to wait till the price is announced to be sure.
