Microsoft gives OneNote a fresh coat of paint across platforms

We might have called Microsoft’s OneNote one of the best note taking apps on Android, but its inconsistent look and feel made the experience a bit jarring when switching between devices. Microsoft hopes to rectify that with its latest update to OneNote, which should make you more comfortable when using the app across devices.

According to Microsoft, the biggest change to OneNote is its simplified navigation. The update threw all the navigation controls to the left-hand side of the app, which allows for easier switching between notes while making content the focal point.

The fresh coat of paint also benefits those with disabilities, since they can now solely rely on keyboard shortcuts to navigate through OneNote. As Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella put it, “We will focus on designing and building products that our customers love and that are accessible to everyone and built for each of us.”

Microsoft’s redesign for OneNote should only bolster the app’s standing as one of the best note taking apps on Android. We praised OneNote for its organization features, cross-platform support, widgets, Android Wear support, collaboration features, and support for voice, text, and photo additions to notes.

Microsoft says the redesign for OneNote is rolling out for Windows 10, MacOS, iOS, Android, and on the web over the coming weeks. Best of all, OneNote is a free download across all platforms.
