Newer Xiaomi TVs in India generally lack Netflix and Amazon Prime support, but that will change soon.

Xiaomi Mi TV Pro Netflix

Xiaomi recently launched the 65-inch Mi TV 4x in India. Apart from being the biggest television it has ever launched in the country, the Mi TV 4x was also the first to bring native Netflix support on a Xiaomi TV. At the time, there was no clarity on older Mi TVs getting native support for Netflix

Sounding off some good news for existing Mi TV Pro users, Xiaomi has now announced that Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are headed to the Mi TV 4A Pro, 4C Pro, and 4 Pro.

Xiaomi confirmed that support for the two streaming services on existing Mi TV Pro models will come in tow with the Android 9 Pie update. The company expects to roll out the software update to the TVs sometime between October and December of this year.

The list of Mi TVs getting the Android 9 update alongside Netflix and Amazon Prime Video include:

  • Mi TV 4A Pro 32-inch, 43-inch, 49-inch
  • Mi TV 4C Pro 32-inch
  • Mi TV 4 Pro 55-inch

The Android 9 update rollout for Mi TV 4 Pro, 4A Pro, and 4C started earlier this month. However, this was a phased distribution available only to a few users. The wider rollout now seems set for the last three months of the year.

As for the newly launched Mi TV 4x and Mi TV4x Pro, the televisions run Android 9 out-of-the-box. They also feature Xiaomi’s latest Patchwall 2.0 UI. With the Android 9 update, the older, aforementioned televisions will also get support for Patchwall 2.0.

The new TV UI from Xiaomi brings custom skins, support for Light and Dark themes, a category-based carousel, and added support for OTT apps.

The only other Xiaomi TV in India which is yet to see an Android 9 update announcement is the 40-inch Mi TV 4A. However, Xiaomi does mention Patchwall 2.0 support with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video on its product page for the TV. It really does not make sense to leave out one TV in its entire portfolio.
