From the moment you launch the app, you’ll see the highly stylized and eerily beautiful art that is present throughout the game. There is essentially no learning curve. The game is simple and straightforward, and you have one sole purpose: keep the balance! As mundane as that may sound, Masky is actually a vibrant, challenging, and most importantly a highly addicting game. Given all this, it’s no surprise that Masky was the winner of the IGJAM 2016 award for the mobile game category. What is surprising, however, is the fact that the game was created in 48 hours.

There is essentially no learning curve. The game is simple and straightforward, and you have one sole purpose: keep the balance!

Once you open up the app, the game will ask you to choose a character. You are in a dark, gothic chateau of some sort, and the ominous music complements the scene well. On top, there is a balancing meter with three colors: green for good balance, orange for warning, and red… Well, you don’t want red because then the game is over. You either click left or right of your phone screen to move, and the aim is to connect with as many dancers as possible without tipping the balance.

When you have ten people all connected and dancing together, you will be taken to another world. Throughout the game, there are enough variations to keep you on the edge of your seat: sometimes the colors flip into a “white world,” and depending on your level, the entire world could be upside down.

The game does have ads – albeit minimal – but you can pay 99 cents to get rid of those. If you want to give it a go this weekend, click the link below to download the game!
