Android Lollipop arrives for the Moto Maxx and Moto E, in select markets
The Lollipop rollout continues. Motorola has just announced that the latest Android operating system will be heading to its Moto Maxx and Moto E handsets today, but only in a select number of markets.
Android 5.0 Lollipop is making its way to Moto Maxx owners in Brazil and Mexico for soak testing, while the update for the Moto E is now arriving in Brazil and India for the same preliminary testing purposes. A selective rollout and progressive soak test allows Motorola to test the update and its system for bugs and problems before pushing the update out to a wider range of customers. If all goes well, Motorola will roll the update out to additional regions in the near future, although no official date has been given.
Much like Moto G (1st gen) owners, Moto E customers looking to upgrade to Lollipop will need to download the Motorola Update Services app from the Google Play Store, which is required for Android 5.0 OTA updates to download correctly on these handsets.
Although the update may be limited to a small selection of total customers for now, it does mean that were are gradually moving closer to a full Lollipop rollout for these two Motorola handsets.
