LIFX introduces its own filament bulb, smart switch, and more
LIFX today announced all-new lighting products at CES 2020. We had the chance to check out the latest products, which we’ll highlight below.
LIFX Filament White
We’ve already seen filament-style bulbs from Philips Hue and others, but now LIFX is introducing its own Filament range. There will be smokey, amber, and clear glass versions of the bulb. The new Filament bulbs have all the same features and technologies as other bulbs in the LIFX range, and that includes full support for all voice assistants and cloud connectivity for remote on/off and dimming.
The new Filament line is expected to arrive in Spring 2020 for just $29.99.
LIFX Switch
If you own a smart home you’ve likely run into a situation where a kid (or a guest) turns off your light switch, rendering your smart bulbs useless. That’s where smart switches come in handy. LIFX is now entering the switch market with a 4-way switch, simply dubbed the LIFX Switch.
The LIFX Switch makes it easy to control both dumb and smart lights, and if someone turns off your switch manually the lights are still usable without any issue. The LIFX Switch mounts similarly to a conventional switch, but it’s buttons are actually digital. It’s a pretty sleek looking device overall.
The LIFX Switch is coming this spring for $119.99.
LIFX Z TV 360 and gamer kit
LIFX is extending the Z range of LIFX LED strips, adding two kits. The 360 and gaming Kit. The 360 kit is designed with connectors and enough length to run along the edge of a TV, while the gaming kit is designed for monitors and therefore isn’t as long.
Both kits will arrive this spring, though the gamer kit is a bit cheaper at $69.99 vs $99.99 for the 360 version.
Candle White to Warm
LIFX debuted a color candle in late 2019, so it’s not surprising to see a tunable white model as well. The light adjusts from cool white to warm white. It’s coming this spring for $29.99.
So that’s it for new hardware. In addition to new lighting products, LIFX also debuted a new app which we’ll be taking a closer look once it rolls out.
