The LG Tone Free HBS-FN7 promise to keep your earbuds clean, due to the UVnano charging case. This technology bathes the earbuds in ultraviolet (UV) light any time they’re placed in the case. That’s not the only trick LG has up its sleeve though: these AirPods lookalikes feature active noise-cancelling, rivaling the Apple AirPods Pro.

Each earbud houses microphones for active noise-cancelling (ANC), but it doesn’t feature hybrid ANC like the competition. LG forgoes the traditional circular ear tip for a more comfortable design that does a better job of passively blocking outside noise. This is a very good thing, since effective ANC requires a good fit from the start.

These earphones share a similar design and function to the more affordable LG Tone Free HBS-FN6. Meridian Audio tuned both the HBS-FN6 and HBS-FN7 earbuds. You can expect a nearly identical frequency response with a slight sub-bass bump, with other notes amplified to preserve clarity. They operate via Bluetooth 5.1 and support the AAC and SBC Bluetooth codecs. Bluetooth multipoint isn’t supported, so you must manually disconnect from one device before connecting to another.

LG makes bold battery life claims with its noise-cancelling earbuds: these should last you seven hours on a single charge, and the case should provide an additional 14 hours (ANC off). When you enable ANC, battery life drops to five hours of standalone playtime, and 10 hours of additional battery life.

The charging case kills up to 99.9% of S. aureus and E. coli bacteria on the earbuds, but you should still clean them to be safe. The UV light can’t destroy earwax buildup in the ear tips or on the nozzles.

The LG Tone Free HBS-FN7 are available in Stylish Black and Modern White, and retail for $179.99. The headset is currently on promotion for a limited time, however, and costs just $149.99.
