On Sunday, LG announced another clamshell form smartphone, the Ice Cream Smart, which is scheduled to debut in Korea this week. A few months ago, LG launched a similar handset called the Wine Smart, a throwback to some of the company’s old phone designs. It seems that the flip-phone look is making a bit of a resurgence in South Korea.

The Ice Cream Smart comes equipped with a 3.50-inch HVGA (320 x 480 pixels) display, an unspecified 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory with microSD card support, an 8MP rear camera and a 1,700 mAh battery. The handset also runs Android 4.4 KitKat and comes with LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi connectivity.

As far as hardware goes, this phone is virtually identical to the Wine Smart, just with a little more memory thrown in. This certainly isn’t a smartphone aimed at the hardware enthusiast. Interestingly, the smartphone also features a dedicated KakaoTalk button, allowing users to quickly access the popular mobile messaging service.

LG’s Ice Cream Smart will go on sale in South Korea this week, other regions have not been announced, and comes in either mint or pink color options. The smartphone will be priced at around USD$227.

Do you still feel sentimental towards the old flip-phone design?
