We found it rather odd that LG brought the G5 to MWC 2016 without any word of a release date, but luckily the company is no longer keeping us in the dark. LG has just sent out a press release with word that the LG G5 is coming to the United States sometime in early April. All the major carriers – T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, AT&T  and UScellular – will carry the handset, as well as Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile Stores and B&H. And while there are no specifics as of yet, LG says “select companion devices”, meaning LG Friends, will also be available starting in April.

What’s more, for a limited time LG will include a free extra battery and charging cradle to help you take advantage of the G5’s modular design. For more information on that promotion, head on over to the LG promo page. As of now there’s no official word on pricing or exact availability, but we’ll be sure to update you as we learn more.

It comes with a 5.3-inch IPS LCD “always-on” display, a Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM under the hood, 32GB of on-board storage and microSD expansion up to an additional 200GB. It also comes with a killer 16 and 8MP dual camera on the back and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. And if the 2800mAh battery isn’t enough to last a full day, don’t worry — despite the G5’s all-metal build, you can actually remove the battery.
