TL;DR
  • Motorola is reportedly launching a new ThinkPhone smartphone in 2023.
  • The ThinkPhone branding seems to be connected to Lenovo’s ThinkPad laptops.
  • The ThinkPhone could have high-end specs.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if Lenovo took a ThinkPad laptop and turned it into a phone? We haven’t either, but now we know thanks to a leak that has revealed the Motorola ThinkPhone and its specs.

As you may know, Motorola is a part of Lenovo. The company best known for its laptops acquired Motorola back in 2014, but the two brands have remained mostly separate from each other. But it looks like that status quo is going to change in the near future.

According to a leak obtained by The Tech Outlook, Motorola may be preparing to launch a smartphone that’s similarly branded to the ThinkPad called the ThinkPhone. Based on the images, the ThinkPhone won’t only share similar branding, but the logo also uses the same font as the ThinkPad.

Back in October, we reported on a rumor about a handset that had a ThinkPhone badge on the back. This leak appears to be the phone in question.

The seemingly business-oriented phone may measure in at 158.7 x 74.4 x 8.3mm, have a 5,000mAh battery with 68W fast charging, have a 6.6-inch pOLED 144Hz display, and have a faux carbon fiber body. The leak also suggests the phone could have a triple camera setup with a 50MP main camera, 13MP ultrawide, and 2MP depth sensor. The front reportedly has a 32MP front shooter with auto-focus.

One of the details the leak lacked, unfortunately, was any mention of availability. It’s unknown where or when anyone will be able to get their hands on this phone. However, the leak suggests that the phone could launch in 2023.
