TL;DR
  • Lenovo’s forthcoming gaming phone has leaked.
  • Dubbed the Lenovo Legion Phone 3, the device packs a laundry list of specs, including 18GB RAM.
  • A launch is expected at some point in Q1 2022.

Earlier this week, news and renders of Lenovo’s rumored Halo flagship broke cover. Now, the company’s forthcoming gaming phone is the subject of the latest leak.

Per details from reliable leaker Evan Blass, the Lenovo Legion Phone 3 could make its debut soon. While it’s the sequel to the Lenovo Legion Duel 2, the company has seemingly dropped the “Duel” branding, opting instead for Pro and Elite suffixes.

Despite its name change, the Legion Phone 3 keeps its proudly brash design language and gaming-centric touches. This includes four ultrasonic shoulder keys and two rear capacitive buttons, RGB lighting elements, and twin cooling fans complete the look. A host of colorways are on offer, too, including a baby blue option. The Pro model also gains a “leather-like” finish on its back.

Lenovo Legion 3 specs

On paper, the Legion Phone 3 isn’t too different from its predecessor. Up front, the Lenovo Legion Phone 3 reportedly uses a 6.92-inch AMOLED with a 144Hz refresh rate and 720Hz touch sampling rate. A 1,300 nit peak brightness rating is also in play.

Beneath the Legion Duel 2-inspired exterior sits a welcome update with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It’s mated to up to 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage on the Pro model. If that isn’t enough storage for you, there’s also an option for a 128GB SSD.

Two 2,800mAh batteries power the phone that supports 68W charging speeds. While the phone could once again feature two USB-C ports, that quoted charging speed falls well short of the Legion Duel 2’s 90W maximum. This is balanced by the additional 600mAh of battery capacity, though.

The Lenovo Legion Phone 3 reportedly uses two rear cameras with 64MP and 13MP sensors for imaging. A 16MP sensor shoots selfies. Finally, dual Dolby Atmos-ready speakers and four microphones complete the offering.

The Lenovo Legion Phone 3 will reportedly make its bow in Q1 2022. Expect the device to show its face before March if that holds true.
