Chinese phone makers LeEco and Coolpad have joined forces as of late, and today we’re seeing the first effort of that collaboration – the Cool1 Dual smartphone. It will fall under LeEco’s branding and represent the company’s newest top-end, the highlight being a 13 MP dual camera setup on the back. Its purpose is similar to the HUAWEI P9, where it utilizes a monochrome and color sensor to achieve better image quality; pretty impressive for a phone that starts at CNY 1,099 (~ $167).

Despite the low price, the design also manages to keep up with the latest trends, sporting a magnesium alloy metal body, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and even a USB Type-C port. Under the hood is a more modest Snapdragon 652 chipset (octa-core processor) and 5.5” 1080P IPS LCD screen. Battery life should be decent with a 4,060 mAh capacity, and you’ll be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow underneath LeEco’s EUI skin.

The Cool1 Dual will be offered with different memory capacities at different prices: 3GB/32GB as the base, 4GB/32GB for CNY 1,499 (~ $226), or 4GB/64GB for CNY 1,699 (~ $256). It will be reservable via JD.com and later land at Lemall and Coolpad Chinese online stores on Aug. 24th at 10am.

Are you guys glad to see dual camera technology being expanded to other phones, or not yet convinced it’s something you need?
