TL;DR
  • Lawnchair Launcher, one of the best third-party Android launchers, has released its 1.0 version in the Google Play Store.
  • It offers a number of features originally found on the Pixel Launcher.
  • Work has already started on version 2.0 of Lawnchair Launcher.

In June 2017, we were first alerted to a new app called Lawnchair Launcher. First created by members of the popular XDA community, it brought a number of features found in the Pixel Launcher to other Android phones. Today, version 1.0 of Lawnchair Launcher went live and is now available to download in the Google Play Store.

While it does replicate many features of the Pixel Launcher, Lawnchair adds some new ones as well. They include include support for Google Now integration, (although you do need to download an add-on for that), along with a way to change the icon size of apps. There’s also a blur mode, icon pack support, Android 8.0 Oreo-style shortcuts, notification dots and more.

While version 1.o of Lawnchair Launcher is now available to download, the developers behind it are already working on version 2.0. Indeed, a Google+ post from team member Colin Reimer stated the public beta for Lawnchair 2.0 will be available in a couple of weeks.

What do you think of Lawnchair Launcher, now that it has hit its 1.0 milestone?
