Add Android Authority on Google:
TL;DR
  • Amazon has rolled out handwritten notes to the Kindle Android app.
  • The feature allows readers to mark up their ebooks with handwritten notes.
  • Support appears to be exclusive to Android tablets and phones, for now.

While it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, some people love to write in the books they read. From tracking details in a story to marking favorite quotes, annotations can be a fun and useful way to interact with a book. Amazon added the option to annotate Kindle ebooks on its recently launched Alexa Tablets. Now the company has further expanded the feature.

Kindle ebook readers (via The Verge) are being greeted by a new pop-up in the Android app. The pop-up is informing users that they can now write directly in their ebooks. If you’re the kind of reader who likes jotting down their thoughts, you’ll be able to choose what pen style, size, and color you want to use. When you write something down, the text flows around your notes.

Users are reporting that they are seeing the feature available on devices like the Galaxy Tab S10 FE, XP-Pen Magic Note Pad, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, and BOOX Go 7. The rollout appears to be exclusive to Android tablets and phones, as the feature has yet to find its way to Apple devices.

This update follows the addition of two other recently added features. Days ago, users noticed the emergence of options for underlining and outlining ebook text on Android.
