Update: Android Authority has just received word from an Honor spokesperson regarding the Honor 8’s EMUI 8.0 update. The official statement can be found below:

To ensure Honor 8 users also benefit from the latest user experience upgrades, new functions of EMUI 8.0 will be ported to the Honor 8. Further update details will be released within one week. Please stay tuned and we thank you for your support and interest in Honor.

While the Honor 8 will receive the update to EMUI 8.0, that statement sounds like it may not receive the full upgrade to Android Oreo. We will keep you updated as we learn more about the phone’s update in the following days.

Earlier this month, Huawei announced the latest version of its in-house smartphone user interface, EMUI 8.0, had started rolling out. Today, its Honor brand revealed which its older and current phones will receive update.

The list was originally posted on the Club Huawei forums (via Playfuldroid):

  • Honor 7X
  • Honor 8
  • Honor V8
  • Honor Note 8
  • Honor 8 Lite
  • Honor 9
  • Honor 9 Lite
  • Honor V9
  • Honor V10 (Honor View 10)

As we reported previously, the new Honor V10 (known outside China as the Honor View 10) already comes with EMUI 8.0. The Honor 9 Lite, which recently launched in India, also already has it. There’s no specific timetable for when the other Honor phones on the list will receive the interface update, but they are all expected to receive it sometime in 2018.

EMUI 8.0 is the successor to the earlier EMUI 5.1. The big jump in numbering is due to Huawei wanting to sync up its branding with Google’s Android version numbers. The company claims the new version will not only be faster compared to earlier versions, but also smarter, with advances in AI features. Keep in mind not all of the improvements in EMUI 8.0 will be included with all of the Honor phones on this list, due to hardware restrictions of  some older models.
