HONOR View 20 takes on OnePlus 6T in India, starting at 37,999 rupees
Shortly after the HONOR View 20 was launched in China and Europe, the phone is now making its way to India.
Launched at a press event in New Delhi, the HONOR View 20 has a top-of-the-line Kirin 980 chipset. Yes, the same 7nm chip as the one in the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro. Pair that with 6 or 8GB of RAM and between 128 and 256GB of storage and you are looking at one of the most powerful handsets on the market. That the phone is being positioned as a budget flagship is just a bonus.
The device is also one of the first phones to ship with a punch-hole display. In our HONOR View 20 review, we found the 6.4-inch screen to be bright and vivid.
48 megapixels and AI Magic
Camera performance is the other big talking point about the HONOR View 20. The phone has a 48 megapixel primary shooter at the back combined with a 3D Time-of-Flight camera. At the front, a 25-megapixel camera is nestled inside the punch-hole.
While you can take full resolution 48-megapixel images, the magic lies in using the pixel-binned mode where the phone shoots 12MP images with a pixel size equivalent to 1.6 microns. Of course, being an HONOR phone, there are plentiful AI modes including an Ultra Clarity mode. This mode uses stacking to create a high-resolution image that tries to brings out more details than would be possible from a single image.
The HONOR View 20 has been priced at 37,999 rupees for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant in India. Meanwhile, the 8GB RAM version with 256GB storage is priced at 45,999 rupees. The pricing pits the phone right against the OnePlus 6T that also starts at 37,999 rupees for the base variant.
The OnePlus 6T runs on the Snapdragon 845 chipset with a near stock software experience, as opposed to the View 20’s Kirin 980 and Magic UI combo. Compared to the OnePlus 6T, the HONOR View 20 also has a larger 4,000 mAh battery and includes a headphone jack.
The phone will be sold online via Amazon but you can head over to Reliance Digital stores in case you prefer to buy your phones offline. Do you think the phone brings enough to the table to be able to take on the OnePlus 6T?
