TL;DR
  • The HONOR 7A and HONOR 7C have been launched in India.
  • They offer a 13MP and 2MP rear camera pairing for under 10,000 rupees.
  • Huawei’s sub-brand claims these are two of the cheapest dual-camera phones in India.

Dual-camera technology has slowly filtered down into budget handsets, but the HONOR 7A and HONOR 7C might be two of the cheapest dual-camera phones on the market. Now, the HUAWEI sub-brand has announced launch details for the two phones in India.

The sub-brand revealed that the HONOR 7A would be available via Flipkart from May 29, while the HONOR 7C would be available via Amazon on May 31. Alternatively, you can grab them from Hihonor.in.

As for a price tag, you’ll be paying 8,999 rupees (~$132) for the HONOR 7A, while the HONOR 7C starts at 9,999 rupees (~$147). In both cases, you’re getting a phone with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, dual SIM slots, and microSD support. But you can also grab the 4GB RAM/64GB storage HONOR 7C for 11,999 rupees (~$176).

How do they differ?

The two phones share a few other similarities, such as the 13MP + 2MP rear camera pairing, an 8MP front-facing camera with face unlock capabilities, a rear fingerprint scanner, and a 3,000mAh battery. The pair feature 18:9, 1,440 x 720 displays, although the 7C packs a 6-inch screen while the 7A has a slightly smaller 5.7-inch display.

The main difference between the handsets is in the chipset. The HONOR 7A uses the aging Snapdragon 430 octa-core chipset (built on a 28nm process). The HONOR 7C, on the other hand, packs a Snapdragon 450 octa-core chipset built on a 14nm process and clocked at a higher speed. So if anything, you should expect slightly better endurance and faster performance from the HONOR 7C.

The HONOR 7A has a small price tag for a dual camera device, and HONOR even claims it is the cheapest dual-camera smartphone in India. That’s not quite true, however, as the dual-camera wielding 10.or G, which launched late last year for 9,999 rupees, is now down to 7,999 rupees (~$118). Still, the 7A will no doubt be the better performer.
