Today's indie app of the day is Hidely. This app boasts security for photos from the moment they're taken to you sharing them. It has issues but it's free.

What is Hidely?

Hidely is a camera and gallery application that focuses on privacy. Unlike most privacy galleries that only store photos behind a protected vault, Hidely incorporates the camera as well to make the entire process secure. It’s in the Google Play Store for free with no in app purchases.

Here’s how Hidely works. It boasts a zero-trace camera that is built into the app which automatically stores pictures in the secured vault. The vault is password protected and your pictures are also encrypted so it takes more than a wink and a wave to get at them. You can also move previously taken photos into the vault for additional security if you so choose. It really is a simple system without a lot of unnecessary frills.

Along with private storage, Hidely also allows you to privately share. When you share using the app, there’s a private link that expires after one use or after 24 hours (your choice) and the recipients can only view it using Hidely. When you add it up, the app does a fairly decent job of keeping your photo safe from sight for pretty much the entire process and that’s what makes it unique.

Hidely review
Overall, if you need to take pictures and don’t want people seeing them, this is a great app to try. It’s a no frills app which may turn some away because there are some settings and features that would have been nice to have, particularly in the camera department. Perhaps the most frustrating part of the app is the incomplete feeling because this app feels like it could be so much more than it is right now. Nevertheless, it is an early attempt and it is free to try.
